I Love You To My Butt

So Bear's recent thing is saying throughout the day when I am helping her with something, or snuggling her, "I just love you".

So I always tell her "I love you too."

We had read the book Snip Snap Croc a few months back, for a period of time it enjoyed the status as favorite.  As such, I started adding in that I loved her "as high as the sky, river deep, and ocean wide."

Bear's response is to hold her hands slightly apart and say "I love you this much, just a tiny bit".

I then spread my arms all the way apart and tell her "I love you this much."

Then she spreads her arms way apart and reaches behind her back to hold her hands together while saying "I love Daddy to all the way around my back". Which has since been shorten to "I love my Daddy all" and occasionally "I love Daddy behind my back".

Why yes, Bear is a Daddy's girl.  Keen of  you to pick up on that. You might also be aware that as cute as it is, it still hurts Mom's feelers a wee bit.

I can usually negotiate and get Bear to spread her hands a little farther apart, but always "I just love you little, I love my Daddy all!"

This afternoon she was feeling generous, she put her arms around and smacked her thighs "I love you to my butt!"

Ha ha, Thanks kid.

Get a Life

The Big D gets his mords wixed up sometimes.

Currently a favorite song in the house is The Farmer in the Dell

So all day long I hear:

The Farmer takes a Life!
The Farmer takes a Life!
Hi Ho the Dairy-O,
The Farmer takes a Life!

Me: Thats Wuh-Wuh-Wuh - Wife, Bud.
Not Luh-Luh-Luh-Life

Big D: Okay Mom

The Famer take a Wife
The Farmer takes a Life...

Big D: When I'm a grown up I'll get married and have a life. And my life with have lots of kids.  I'll be their ruler, and my life.

Me: You won't be ruler of your Wife.

Big D: No, me and my life will be rulers of all our kids.  And you can babysit all my babies and watch them and love them for me and my life.

On a side note, reports vary to how many babies the Big D will have.  He says God will bless him with 'lots' and 'many' some early reports estimate 100 all at once. He has also informed me that I am to cover everyone's eyes at his wedding so no one sees him kiss his new life.

Crazy and Silly and Nice

The Hubby gave the awake children goodbye hugs before heading out this morning. Bear was in her high hair eating and the Bid D gave an impish smirk and said he wasn't giving a goodbye hug. So Daddy came to both of them and gave them bye-hugs.

I have a quirk about getting the last hug, so he had give me another one before heading out the door. The Hubby had to be ornery, because it's who he is.

Big D: Did Dad just give you a spank?!
Me: Yep, what are we going to do about him?
Big D: Before we go-ed to the farm last day we asked dad to get us donuts and he said "wait here"
Me: Did he bring back donuts?
Big D: Nooo, he only gets us donuts when we go in the grocery store.
(Duh Mom, drink your coffee and follow along)
Me: Oh that Dad
Big D: Yep. He is crazy and silly and nice.

I gotta say, it's actually a fairly accurate description.

Josh-isms

Me: Hey what happened here? Where did this mess come from?
J: It must have been Daniel because it's never my fault right mom?

Me: Hey, indoor voice bud.
J: I don't have an indoor voice. My dad told me that.
Kids really don't comprehend sarcasm.
J: Mom you know what I forgot? I forgot to tell you my tales from preschool!
Me: You could tell me now.
J: OK, I will share my tales of preschool with you.
I feel as though he is going to be a poet, author, or playwright when he grows up.
J: You don't know everything mom.
Me: Yes I do.
J: nuh-uh
Me: What don't I know then?
J: uhmm...I don't know.
Me: Then how do you know that I don't know everything?
J: Because God is the only one who knows everything...and Trish.
Makes sense, God and preschool the source of all knowledge in the world.
J: I know never to talk to strangers. I watched a video and learned that in Preschool.
Me: That is good know and remember. You should only talk to strangers if Mom or Dad are with you.
J: But it's okay. I can just ask them their name and then they will be my friend not a stranger.
Because asking a question apparently doesn't count as a talking. It also explains him yelling at vehicles driving by: "Hey what's your name?"
J: Is the baby getting big?
Me: Yes she is, she is growing.
J: So her bones won't break if we step on her?
Me: Don't step on your sister.
J: hmmm...oh, ok.
And tummy time suddenly seems more dangerous.

Photo Bomb 20

Dear Hubby,

This week we played a lot inside and the boys were set on being my helpers.  I'm not sure what was so helpful about crawling in and out of the dryer, but they insisted it was necessary.  They also really wanted to visit Grandma and Grandpa, but I wasn't able to get a hold of them.  I will try for this week so they can get a grandparent fix.  Great Grandma did stop by with grapes and cookies though, so they might have just been after more.

The Big D has been all about growling lately.  I'm not sure if it is from playing with the new dinosaur toys or just a fun discovery.  To be honest he sounds a bit demonic, and then follows up with his "I'm up to something" giggle.  It brings me back to when the Toddler used to say in his creepy voice "I See You Mommy!"...no threats so far from the baby though.  He is still saying new words daily.  This week he added: Wow, Hat, Cap, and Puppy.  There is another new one too, but I can't remember it at the moment.

The Toddler has discovered a love of board games at daycare.  On Friday he didn't want to come home because he was in an intense round of CandyLand with a cute little miss.  I told him we could play at home, but when he found out we don't have any "box games" he was begging the rest of weekend to go back to daycare.  Apparently they have better toys.  That was a hint for me to rotate out the toy box totes.

We made a run to the grocery store Saturday morning, met our new neighbors in the afternoon and then drove to the Big city to visit my sisters fam and well...mainly that was a diaper run, but the boys and I had a blast.  It was shaping up to be a pajama party as late as we stayed (that and I bought new pjs so they would be ready for bed when we did get home).  The Toddler is still petrified of the dark and his fear seems only to be growing.  I added another nightlight and we say our nightly prayers asking the Lord to keep us safe and grant us courage.  He has also been sleeping with his tiger flashlight.  Here is hoping to a peaceful nights sleep for us all in the near future.

This weekend was a long weekend.  I think the deployment has set in as I truly I realized you really aren't ever safe.  It probably should have sank in earlier, what with you being in a war zone and all. But, I limited myself to worrying while you were on missions. I suppose it was more of a coping mechanism for me.  All that has changed now and I will continue to worry until you are home in my arms again.

As always we love you and miss you.

Still a Baby to Me

The Big D Stats from his 15 month appointment:

Noggin size:18.5 inches (50th percentile)
Height: 31.5 inches (55th percentile)
Weight: 23 pounds (60th percentile)

Our all around average American boy.

He is really starting to pickup new words.  As gabby as his big brother and mommy are though, that shouldn't come as a surprise. He mimics tones and at times sounds like he repeats a short sentence after his brother or mom.

Vocab of the Baby:

I'm sure I'm missing some, but he says at least 20 words, and his own name!

  • Beep Beep (he says it every time the timer dings)
  • Tada! (learned from the nurse yesterday)
  • Uh oh
  • Ball
  • Car
  • Up
  • Down
  • Peas (Please)
  • Cow
  • Moo
  • Toe
  • Nose
  • Yum
  • Owe/Owie
  • Mom/Momma/Mommy
  • Dad/Dada/Daddy
  • Nana (banana)
  • Sih (Sit)
  • Juh (how he says big brother's name)
  • Hi
  • No
  • Baby
  • Me
  • My
  • Gamma (grandma)
  • NighNigh (goodnight)

It is hard for me though.  I look at him as my little baby...the Hubby on FaceTime this morning told me he isn't a "baby" anymore...and the Toddler's shirt is too small.  You are too observant Hubby.

Am I the only parent that struggles watching her babies grow?  I mean other people keep their kiddos in the same size of clothes until they look like a stuffed sausage? Don't they? Other people shed a tear every time they have to move up a size of clothing.  I'm really not alone in this am I?

I am proud and looking forward to all the new stages, and yet I don't want to let go of where they are.  The Toddler informed me he wasn't a baby, I agreed, but it still makes me sad.  I considered him a baby up until the Big D was born.  Then just like that he seemed so much older.  Just last night I folded up all of the Big D's size 12 month clothes.  I'm not ready to put away the Toddler's 3T shirts...he is still only 2!  Granted only for a few more months.  I don't want him to be size 4T, though I have already started mixing that size into his tops, bottoms we are still between 2T-3T.  The boys height is all in his torso.

Anyway, I have happy boys and that is main thing...if only they would just slow down on the growing up a little.

Remember Your Rainbrella

Yay for rain, and yay for a break in the hot weather!  This week we found relief from the high temperatures and even had a few days with some showers.  I was kicking myself earlier this week when I dropped off the kids at daycare in a downpour.  I had to dash each kid in separately to avoid getting them drenched.

As soon as we pulled out of the driveway the Toddler informed me he needed a "rainbrella".  I had forgotten whilst vaccumming out my car the week before I had brought the umbrella rainbrella in the house.  Because I am an awesome mom the boys were also wearing shorts and t-shirts...I had been figuring on another warm day filled with outdoor playtime.  Note to Self: start paying attention to the weather forecast.

We had sprinkles again this morning, but I still haven't returned my umbrella to the car.  I'm am still giggling about the word "rainbrella" though.  It is very fitting afterall, besides I like that he makes up words just like his momma.  (To my sister if you are reading this gription will catch on!)

To my Hubby - I hope the heat in the middle east has cooled down.  It's currently in the 60s here!
